A Harvard professor says U.S. taxpayers could end up paying at least a trillion dollars for the war in Iran.
Professor Linda Bilmes a public policy expert at the Harvard Kennedy School, said that the short term costs at the beginning of the war were around two-billion-dollars a day, counting the cost of ammo, troops and damage to American military equipment.
She says the cost of restocking supplies and equipment will be more today than when they were first purchased.
The White House has asked Congress to boost the defense budget to one-and-a-half trillion dollars, which would be the biggest growth since World War Two.
