The Boston Red Sox, off to a slow start to begin the season, have fired veteran manager Alex Cora and several coaches including retired catcher Jason Veritek.
Officials say Veritek will be offered another job in the organization.
Principal owner John Henry told MLB.com “These decisions are never easy, but this one is especially difficult given what Alex has meant to the Red Sox since the day he arrived.”
The Red Sox beat Baltimore 17-1 to end a 4-game losing streak including three straight to the Red Sox at Fenway.
It is unclear who will run the team Sunday as the Red Sox play Baltimore again.
