Providence Mayor, City Council Announce Passage Of HUD Entitlement

Providence Mayor Brett Smiley and the City Council have advanced an eight-point-eight-million-dollar federal housing and community investment package.

The HUD Entitlement Grants Budget for Program Year 2026-27 makes critical investments in affordable housing, homelessness prevention, shelter improvements and essential services for Providence residents.

Mayor Smiley says the funding package will help families stay housed, expand pathways to homeownership, strengthen critical community services, and support the long-term development of affordable housing.
