Massachusetts is part of a ten-state coalition suing the Trump administration on behalf of homeowners.
The lawsuit challenges a federal decision requiring mortgage lenders to pay interest on the money they require borrowers to deposit in escrow accounts to cover taxes and insurance.
Opponents argue the decision results in less money returned to homeowners and more money for big banks.
Attorney General Andrea Campbell said she will continue to oppose an administration seeking to violate state laws and take residents' hard-earned money.
Connecticut.-Rhode Island and Vermont are also part of the suit.
Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said the state will fight for consumers every time the administration quote, "tries to short-change them."
