Governor Dan McKee, interim RIDOT Director Robert Rocchio and representatives from Walsh Construction have released a timeline of the Washington Bridge milestones they expect to meet by November of 2028.
This fall, prep for remaining substructures continues as construction starts on west abutment and piers 1 and 2. In the spring of 2027, work is scheduled to begin on arch footings, and more steel spans will be installed.
Installation of the Gano Street off-ramp begins next summer, work on the new Gano Street on ramp is scheduled for the fall of 2027 with deck work continuing in the spring.
The westbound side of the bridge is expected to reopen to traffic by the fall of 2028.
The westbound side of the bridge was shut down in December of 2023 after critical infrastructure failures were found.
