Governor Dan McKee supports the RIPTA Board of Directors' vote to begin design and engineering work on a relocated bus hub.
McKee says his administration partnered with RIPTA to work on moving the transit hub out of Kennedy Plaza and building a safe, state-of-the-art facility next to the Providence train station.
"I heartily support today’s vote by the RIPTA Board of Directors to begin design and engineering work on a relocated bus hub that will maximize access to multimodal transportation," the governor says in a statement.
"My administration partnered with RIPTA to move forward with relocating the transit hub out of Kennedy Plaza and building a modern, safe, state-of-the-art facility next to the Providence train station. The new hub will help grow ridership and create new opportunities for RIPTA’s future. This new bus hub will be one of the state’s largest investments in public transportation infrastructure in recent history."
