PVDFest takes place this weekend with extended hours.
This year, the festival will take place from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. today and from noon until 10 p.m. on Saturday.
When Mayor Brett Smiley announced the change last month, he said the extended evening hours would give festival attendees more time to experience live performances, food, local vendors, public art and cultural activities.
The festival will span Providence's Downtown core, including Kennedy Plaza, the Providence Rink, Burnside Park and the streets surrounding City Hall.
