Providence City Councilor Miguel Sanchez has won a lawsuit regarding social media posts that led to his dismissal as a junior staffer in the Governor's Office.
He filed a federal complaint after he was fired in 2023 for making pro-Palestinian comments online, claiming two of Governor Dan McKee's staffers violated his right to free speech.
Rhode Island District Court Chief Judge John McConnell Jr. has now affirmed that McKee's advisors violated Sanchez' constitutional speech protections.
