Potentially Rabid Raccoon Attacks Warwick Resident

The Rhode Island Department of Health says a potentially rabid raccoon attacked a Warwick resident over the weekend.

The victim was bitten or scratched near Payton Avenue and they began receiving post-rabies exposure treatment on Sunday.

The Health Department says the raccoon has not been captured for rabies testing.

If anyone or their pet had contact with a raccoon in the area, they should call the Health Department.
