B101 Artists Are Tops in Vinyl Sales

If you got a new turntable or vinyl records for Christmas, apparently you're in good company!  A new high of 16-point-eight million vinyl albums were sold in 2018, according to Nielsen Music. While overall album sales were actually down by 17-point-seven percent, vinyl album sales have gone up for the 13th consecutive year, by 14-point-six percent.

Besides the two top-selling vinyl albums, the “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1” soundtrack and “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles lead the top 10 for 2018 in the United States. Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” sold 77,000 copies to earn the third spot, and “Abbey Road” by The Beatles sold 76,000 for the fourth spot.

Others on the top 10 include Pink Floyd, in the sixth spot for 67,000 sales of “The Dark Side of the Moon,” and Queen, whose “Greatest Hits” album sold 60,000 and earned the 8th spot. Panic! At The Disco has one of the most current albums on the list – their latest, “Pray For The Wicked,” is in the 10th spot with 59,000 copies sold. Check out the list:
