"Saturday Night Fever" not only made a huge star out of John Travolta, it also was the driving force behind the success of disco music. Almost every song on the soundtrack was a hit, including six songs by the Bee Gees who managed to reinvent themselves with the release of SNF. They were most famous as soft rock balladeers until this album made them mega pop stars. The soundtrack has sold over 16 million copies. Even if you hated disco (and many of us rock fans did), there was no way to deny the success and impact of the film and the album. With this single release, a revolution was launched.
