Distracted Driving Report Shows...We're Distracted!

These days most of us deal with tons of distractions, but if there’s one place we should be staying focused on just one thing it's when we are behind the wheel. But it turns out, that’s definitely not happening at all. In fact, we are more distracted when we drive than ever.

A new report reveals Americans are guilty of distracted driving about 3-point-3 miles each day. Overall, the average American will spend about 72 minutes in their car each day, taking 4-point-5 trips per day, traveling about 40 miles and at 31 MPH.

But it seems during those 72 minutes folks are doing a lot of other things, including actively using their phone for 6-point-5 minutes, making handheld phone calls for 1-point-5 minutes, and another 2-point-6 minutes making hands-free calls.

As for the worst time for distracted driving, that would be 5 pm, where folks spend 12-point-6 minutes per hour distracted behind the wheel. Wednesdays and Thursdays are also the worst days for distracted driving with folks spending 11-point-4 minutes per hour distracted behind the wheel. Folks are least distracted behind the wheel on Sundays, where they only spend 9-point-2 minutes per hour distracted.
