I always keep an eye out for new movies (especially the ones that are supposed to be big hits), so I was surprised that I didn't know much about this one. "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" just had a great debut weekend, especially considering that it was up against recent blockbusters like "Hobbs and Shaw," "The Lion King" and "Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood." It took in $20 million dollars with very little fanfare or promotion. The new horror flick from Guillermo del Toro looks very freaky.
On its surface, the plot is sort of a cliche tale: A bunch of kids find a book of scary stories, and as they read them, they start to come true, so that terrible things start happening to said kids. Sounds pretty run-of-the-mill, huh? But something about the trailer freaked me out a little. I was a little uncomfortable after watching it. Take a look and see what you think. And if you already saw the movie, please leave a comment with your review. THANKS! (video courtesy of YouTube)
