Several songs have seen a boost in sales due to the coronavirus, and one of them is The Knack’s “My Sharona,” because the title rhymes with the disease. Well, it was enough to get the group together to transform the song for the times...sort of.
“Some people have asked whether we were gonna get around to doing our own “Sharona / Corona” parody song, because apparently, there aren’t enough of them,” guitarist Burton Averre shares in a video posted to YouTube. “Sadly, our lead singer is no longer with us, and trust me, you don’t want to hear me croak it out.”
In the end Burton really only gives folks a lesson on how to play the song on guitar, while keeping his axe sanitized for his protection. But at the very end he brings in Knack bassist Prescott Niles just so they can sing, the obvious, “Bye, Corona.”Check it out below
