Bon Jovi just dropped the new song “American Reckoning” in which he pays tribute to George Floyd. “I was moved to write ‘American Reckoning’ as a witness to history,” Jon Bon Jovi said in a statement. “I believe the greatest gift of an artist is the ability to use their voice to speak to issues that move us.”The song features lyrics directly taken from George Floyd’s story, including “I can’t breathe,” and mentions the “eight long minutes” it took for him to die.All proceeds from the song, through the end of the year, will be donated to Bryan Stevenson’s Equal Justice Initiative.“American Reckoning” is expected to be added to the band’s upcoming album “Bon Jovi 2020,” which is due out in the fall after being delayed because of the coronavirus.
