"On the Dark Side" came from the soundtrack of the movie "Eddie and the Cruisers," which was released in September 1983 (whoa... 37 years ago this month?!?!). Funny... I always think of it as an ultimate summer song because I remember driving around with my friend Marcus with this cassette on his boom box. Anyway... Since this is the next-to-last Throw Back Thursday of the summer, I thought I'd give this tune a spin.
In the movie, Michael Pare did a nice job of lip-syncing to John Cafferty's voice and was believable because Pare's voice is raspy like John's. As you know, JC & TBBB are in the RI Music Hall of Fame so we always like giving them some love on B101. John's voice is so big it makes him sound six feet tall, even though he's not. (Incidentally, that's a trait that I can relate to, as most people tell me that I sound much taller on the radio.)
