Stevie Nicks has released a new song, “Show Them The Way.” In a new interview, the singer reveals she wrote the lyrics three election cycles ago, but she “just knew” that “right now” was “the time” to drop her new tune. To me, the lyrics fit the song a bit awkwardly and it sounds like a poem she later set to music. By modern standards, it is also extremely long, clocking in at over six minutes.
“I did hold it back since 2008, and I just knew that right now, with the presidential election and everything else that’s going on, that this was the time,” she says. “I hope that this song and its words will be seen as a prayer — a prayer for our country, and a prayer for the world.”
The newly recorded version features Dave Grohl on drums, and she insists that it’s a “nonpartisan” tune although it’s politically-minded. “It’s meant to be a moment of peace for everyone,” she adds. “It’s like, can we just figure a way out of this horrific thing that we have walked into?” Check out the song below.
