Richie Sambora is opening up about his controversial decision to leave Bon Jovi. Speaking to “People,” the guitarist says he has “no regrets” about his exit from the band in 2013.
Ultimately, Richie put his relationship with his daughter Ava above everything else, including his role in the iconic rock band. While he knows it wasn’t a “popular choice,” he says Ava needed him to “be around” at the time, and family comes first. Plus, his rockstar lifestyle was starting to take its toll anyway.
“It was really time for a break. We [were on the road] 14 times over a 31-year period,” he says. “I had a lot of conscious work to do around [my personal life,] that was a time of psychological maintenance for the family.”
