My wife and I have a box of Christmas movies and CDs that comes out with the decorations every year. Here are the movies that I think are must-see for anyone who loves Christmas movies.
First up... It's a Wonderful Life. Not just a great holiday flick. One of the greatest movies of all time.
Next... The all-time classic... and the most quotable Christmas movie ever: "Christmas Vacation!" Better to watch it uncut, than on basic cable or network TV. Chevy Chase's tirades are always funnier with all the swear words.
"Scrooged" is a 1980's take on "A Christmas Carol." It's not a great movie, so much as it's a great vehicle for the comedy of Bill Murray. Think "Ground Hog Day" at Christmas time. If you love Bill, you've got to see this.
The next two are a couple of my all-time favorites. "Holiday Inn" encompasses all the holidays of a year, but it's all centered around Christmas and New Year's Eve. "Holiday Inn" was where people first heard the Big Crosby classic "White Christmas." The movie named for the song actually came came about a decade later.
Plus... "Elf." It's so silly, you can't help be happy at by the end of the movie.
