While last year wasn’t good for a lot of things, it was good for vinyl record sales. According to MRC Data, 2020 was the biggest year for vinyl sales in all 30 years of tracking, with a total of 27.54 million units moved, up 46.2% from 2019.
Topping the list for the best vinyl sales of last year was Harry Styles' "Fine Line," which sold 232,000 copies, with many classic albums making the Top Ten.
Classic albums with big vinyl sales in 2020 include: Queen’s "Greatest Hits," which comes in second with 176,000 vinyl records sold, followed by The Beatles ’“Abbey Road” in third (161,000), and Bob Marley and The Wailers ’“Legend: The Best Of…” (148K) at six.
Other classic records in the Top Ten include: Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” (126,000) at seven, and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller (125,000) at nine.
