The heaviest rain from the remnants of Hurricane Ida fell in southeastern Massachusetts, Aquidneck Island and Bristol County, RI. Our weather partners at WJAR NBC10 report that both Fairhaven, MA and Portsmouth RI received over seven inches of rain. Bristol and Newport received over six inches. New Bedford received over five inches, with some reports of localized rainfall amounts over seven inches in the city.
Most of Rhode Island, including the Providence area, received over four inches. The latest rainfall puts Providence approximately six inches above average, year to date, with around 36 inches falling so far.
