Have you ever thought about having a beer for breakfast? The folks at Guinness think you might…and have introduced Guinness Breakfast Tea Amber. The brew was introduced just before St. Patrick's Day, so I am absolutely amazed that I didn't see this before then.
There are quite a few breweries that offer "Breakfast Stouts" (Founders' is one of my favorites), but this new Guinness creation is much different: It’s made from regular Irish Breakfast Tea and a beer base from Guinness’ American Amber Ale and is 4.8% ABV. It’s being sold in four-packs of 16-ounce cans and Guinness Head Brewer Sean Brennan tells Thrillist the “the combination of sweet wort with bold tea flavors sparked our idea to brew a beer just like that” and “the tea has sort of a pungent, brisky, malty flavor that balances well with the caramel notes of an amber.”
While it was advertised as being available "around St. Patrick's Day," you might still find it at local liquor stores.
