The Red Sox have announced that they will wear a patch on their uniforms this season to honor late player and broadcaster Jerry "RemDawg" Remy." Remy passed away last October at age 68 after a long battle with cancer. The patch will bear the number "2" which Remy wore during his playing days with the Sox.
The only exception will be during the home opener at Fenway on April 15th. On that day, all MLB teams will wear a patch with number "45" to honor Jackie Robinson, who broke the Major League baseball color barrier in 1947.
