Ryan White passed away in 1990 at the age of 18 from AIDS. He had contracted HIV from a tainted blood transfusion years earlier. It's also because of him and his family that Elton John is here today. During a show in Indiana on Friday, which is where White was from, Elton shared that it was because he spent time around White's family that made him make changes to his own life.
“I knew that my lifestyle was crazy and out of order. And six months later, I got sober and clean and have been ever since,” Elton shared. “I cannot thank them enough, because without them, I’d probably be dead. I love you so much. Thank you for all you’ve done for me. This song is for you.” He then played “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.”
