Paul McCartney's childhood home at 20 Forthlin Road in Liverpool is now open as a writing and performance studio for unsigned artists to utilize! The home is also where McCartney and John Lennon wrote some of their hits like "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Love Me Do," so you know it's filled with good writing vibes! It's even where McCartney wrote his first song, "I Lost My Little Girl."
The initiative is being called "The Forthlin Sessions." It's described as a place where burgeoning artists can “visit, write, and perform at 20 Forthlin Road, sitting in the very same spots where around 30 of the world’s most famous songs, including ‘Love Me Do’, ‘I Saw Her Standing There’, ‘Hold Me Tight’, ‘I’ll Follow The Sun’ and ‘When I’m 64’ were written and rehearsed.”
McCartney's brother Mike and journalist Pete Pahides are working with the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts to choose who will actually get the chance to perform at The Forthlin Sessions. It's open to any unsigned, UK-based musician that is at least 18 years old. The sessions are planned to be recorded and publicly shared.
