If you loved “This is Spinal Tap,” you’ll be glad to know a sequel is in the works. Castle Rock Entertainment is relaunching their film division, and the sequel to the rock mockumentary is its first project.
“Spinal Tap II” will feature Rob Reiner directing the sequel and playing filmmaker Marty DiBergi. Also back are Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Christopher Guest – better known as rockers David St. Hubbins, Derek Smalls, and Nigel Tufnel, respectively.
For the record, “This is Spinal Tap” was released to critical acclaim in 1984. In 2002, it was deemed “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress, and was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry.
