Who better to open the celebratory concert for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee than the Queen with Adam Lambert? The show started with a pre-recorded piece from QEII and Paddington Bear, then Lambert entered the stadium with a troop of military drummers.
Once he finished his entrance, Brian May showed everyone how it’s done, being raised above the stage on a platform for his classic solo. Everyone knew something special was coming since May had previously hinted that he wanted to top his previous appearance at the Palace when he played on the roof at the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002.
The Platinum Party also included a pre-recorded performance from Elton John and live sets by Rod Stewart, Duran Duran, and more.
