The Best Diets for 2023

This time of year, healthy eating is on a lot of people’s minds as many have made a New Year’s resolution to eat better or lose weight. And a new report is here to help them figure out the best way to do it. “U.S. News & World Report” has just released the results of their 2023 Best Diets list, based on 30 health experts ranking 24 different diets and eating plans in 11 different categories.

For the sixth year in a row, the Mediterranean Diet has been named Best Overall Diet. It focuses on eating whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean protein and healthy fat and research suggests it can help improve longevity and ward off chronic diseases.

  • The Mediterranean Diet also comes in first in other categories, including Best Diet for Bone and Joint Health, Best Family-Friendly Diet, Best Diet for Healthy Eating and Best Plant-Based Diet.
  • WW, formerly known as Weight Watchers, lands in first place for Best Weight Loss Diet and Best Diet Programs.
