How old were you when you first went on vacation? While 51% of U.S. adults took their first trip before they turned 18, 42% never went on vacation as kids, according to new research. But a lot of them are making up for lost time as adults.

A new survey of 2,000 people reveals this list of “must-do” trips respondents think everyone should take at some point include:

  • a weekend trip to Las Vegas for casino-hopping and gambling - 46%
  • Visiting the White House and monuments in Washington, D.C. - 45%
  • Seeing the Grand Canyon in Arizona - 42%
  • Going to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota - 38%
  • Visiting Disney World in Florida - 36%
  • Going to a volcano in Hawaii - 29%
  • Checking out Times Square in New York City - 28%
  • Exploring the Greek Islands - 19%
  • Seeing the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt - 17%
  • Swimming with the pigs in the Bahamas - 17%
  • Nearly half of those polled (45%) think they’ll be traveling more this year than in 2022, with two-thirds saying they plan to take at least two trips this year and spending an average of $4-thousand.
  • For Gen X and baby boomers, this year is for trips to relaxing and peaceful places like Florida and Hawaii.
  • Millennials are focused on long-haul destinations like Dubai and France.
  • Gen Zers are looking to visit vacation destinations including California and the Caribbean.
  • Respondents say the main difference between a trip and a vacation is being away from home for a certain amount of time, with most agreeing that a vacation is at least seven days long.
