Music and history lovers, take note. Long lost notes from late rocker Freddie Mercury have been found that give us a glimpse into his process as he wrote and composed Queen’s infamous classic opus, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Draft lyrics found on a calendar made by British Midland Airways (which no longer exists) show alternate thoughts and ideas from 1974. Most notable among them is a scratch-out of the word “Mongolian” ultimately replaced by “Bohemian” in the song’s title.
Other interesting discoveries include words that didn’t make the cut alongside “Galileo” and “Fandango,” such as “Matador” and “Belladonna.” The notes are going up for auction at Sotheby’s as part of their six-part “Freddie Mercury: A World Of His Own” collection. Notes providing insight into “Don’t Stop Me Now,” “Somebody To Love,” and “We Are The Champions” will be included in the sale.
