Universal Pictures must be feeling pretty good about their upcoming stage-to-screen adaptation of “Wicked.” The studio already moved the first chapter of the highly anticipated film up from Christmas to Thanksgiving 2024.
Now the news has dropped that the second chapter of the Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo-starring film is getting the same treatment. “Wicked Part Two” has been set for Thanksgiving 2025 from an originally-scheduled date of Christmas 2025.
The reasoning for this is reportedly two-fold. The first reason is that releasing the film on Thanksgiving gives it the chance to build an audience throughout the entire holiday season. And it also will give Universal a chance to capitalize on “Wicked” merchandise just in time for ol’ Santa Claus to make his annual visit.
