The box office didn't get a ton of love over the weekend. "Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny" took the number one spot at the North American box office with its debut this week, but took in just $60 million. With a reported production budget of close to $300 million, the latest Indy flick is looking like it might join “The Flash” as a summer blockbuster flop.
Animation did well this weekend, though. Sony’s “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” took the number two spot with $11.5 million, while Disney’s “Elemental” held steady in third place with $11.3 million.
Rounding out the top five we’ve got “No Hard Feelings” in fourth place with $7.5 million, and “Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts” with $7 million. With the misses from “The Flash” and "Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny,” the sales at the North American box office this summer is slightly down versus last year ($1.91 billion in 2022 vs $1.88 billion in 2023) so far.
Here are the top five movies at the North American box office this weekend:
- "Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny" - $60 million
- "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse" - $11.5 million
- "Elemental" - $11.3 million
- "No Hard Feelings" - $7.5 million
- "Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts" - $7 million
