He was nominated for an Oscar for playing Johnny Cash and now he’s playing historic conqueror Napoleon Bonaparte. Joaquin Phoenix has re-teamed with his “Gladiator” director Ridley Scott on new historical epic film, “Napoleon.”
“‘Napoleon’ is an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Joséphine,” says the movie’s official release. “The film captures Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and astounding strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary.”
Rival studios Sony and Apple both developed the film, which is due in theaters on November 22nd (Thanksgiving weekend).
