I recently told you that Paul McCartney was preparing to release the "final" Beatles song by using artificial intelligence to lift John Lennon's voice from an old recording. Now it seems that a rogue songwriter has beaten Sir Paul to the punch by releasing his own creation featuring an AI-generated Lennon song. The website OK Magazine reports that artist Kid Klava has used AI to sample John's voice and feature him singing Klava's song "Everybody But You."
On a YouTube post of the song, Klava says that after he wrote the song, he realized it wasn't right for his own voice, so he sought a substitute usings artificial intelligence. Needless to say, Beatles fans and much of the music industry is freaking out about this breach of etiquette. What's next...a John Lennon AI-generated duet album? We are treading into some scary waters here.
