For years now, the weight of the Independent Man who stands atop the Rhode Island State House has been a mystery. We now know his actual weight. After the statue was recently removed for maintenance, the RI State Police Commercial Enforcement Unit put the iconic Rhode Islander on a scale. Turns out the big guy weighs in at a whopping 1,400 pounds.
