I just wanted to take a moment of your time this afternoon and thank you for all your efforts and involvement in getting the word out there for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk this past Sunday.
It was the B101 Bongo's first breast cancer walk and I have to say, it brought me to tears.
The sheer magnitude of an event like this is humbling. 15,000 people joined together to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society and while that alone is normal enough to bring tears to my eyes it was the charisma and energy of the event was what actually moved me.
The camaraderie of battling the sickness, over coming the fears and standing on the other side made the leisurely stroll through Providence feel more like a mighty army going into battle.
So many men, women and children walking for their loved ones. Walking for their friends, their family, themselves. For the men and woman who will get diagnosed today, tomorrow, a week from today. Walking for the chance that the money we raise today will prevent our loved ones from battling this in the future.
Music was played, we dressed in our pink war paint and stood in unison against our common enemy.
You helped raise $1,183 for the team but hundreds of thousands for this walk. And regardless of whether or not you walked you are a warrior in the fight against breast cancer.
Thank you so much for the pleasure and honor of representing you.
