'West Side Story" Is Getting A Reboot After 60 Years! Watch The Trailer Now

Steven Spielberg is breathing new life into this classic after 60 years!

US-WEST-SIDE-STORY

It's been 60 years since "West Side Story" first hit the silver screen and in that time it has solidified itself as a classic. One I personally didn't think would ever warrant a remake, however if anyone was to do it, it would certainly have to be Spielberg.

20th Century Studios released the official trailer yesterday saying, "Directed by Academy Award® winner Steven Spielberg, from a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award® winner Tony Kushner, “West Side Story” tells the classic tale of fierce rivalries and young love in 1957 New York City. This reimagining of the beloved musical stars Ansel Elgort (Tony); Rachel Zegler (María); Ariana DeBose (Anita); David Alvarez (Bernardo); Mike Faist (Riff); Josh Andrés Rivera (Chino); Ana Isabelle (Rosalía); Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Schrank); Brian d’Arcy James (Officer Krupke); and Rita Moreno (as Valentina, who owns the corner store in which Tony works). Moreno – one of only three artists to be honored with Academy®, Emmy®, GRAMMY®, Tony® and Peabody Awards – also serves as one of the film’s executive producers."

And with a line up like that, with so many creative and talented individuals I think they just may be able to knock this one out of the park!

Check out the official trailer below and stay tuned for the release date set to be announced later this Summer!
