Former Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz was shot in the lower back outside of a bar in Santo Domingo on the Dominican Republic. Big Papi's dad told ESPN that his son was wounded while hanging out with some friends at a local nightspot in the capital city. He was rushed to the hospital where he had surgery and is said to be resting. Leo Ortiz said none of David's organs were damaged, and that doctors say he'll make a full recovery. Police say several people from the bar where the incident happened chased down the man who shot Ortiz and beat him up!
