While most Summer fun has been cancelled this year because of the coronavirus, thank goodness there is one event we can look forward too...the Nathans 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island!
The fun and frivolity will go on as planned this year, but of course it will be quite a bit different with new COVID-19 safety measures in place. It's also moving to a private location with no spectators allowed, so don't expect it to be at the Nathan's shop on Coney Island. They're only going to allow 5 contestants at a time in both the male and female categories.
Former champions Joey Chestnut, Miki Sudo and others will be back to compete this year. And Nathan's will make a generous donation of 100,000 hot dogs to the New York City Food Bank!
