Music lovers looking for some notstalgia have been snapping up vinyl records for a while, but now cassette tapes are seeing a resurgence in popularity as well.
NME says cassettes have seen a 103% increase in sales since the beginning of the year. Just since the beginning of 2020, 65,000 cassettes have been snapped up, and that number could very well reach over 100,000 by year's end.
What's even weirder, current artists are releasing new music on cassette! The list of the Top 5 cassettes sold aren't old favorites from the 80s, but new pop music including 5 Seconds of Summer, Lady Gaga, The 1975, Selena Gomez, and Dua Lipa. And some of these cassettes ain't cheap. Lady Gaga's new album 'Chromatica' is available on limited edition hot pink cassette for $29.99 on Amazon.
