It's being called a "mummy jackpot." Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced Saturday that they hit the mother-load when it comes to mummies...59 sealed sarcophagi, most containing mummified pristine remains! Those who've seen the mummies say they are in amazing condition! Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anani said, “I have witnessed the opening of one of the coffins … the mummy seems as if it was mummified yesterday.”
As curious as we are about seeing these mummies, it does have us a bit concerned. Have these people never been to the movies? Do they not know that opening a sealed sarcophagus can leave you cursed! Just ask Brandon Fraiser or Tom Cruise about the shenannigans that happen when you do that!
Seriously though, mummies are cool to look at and all, but doesn't it seem a bit disrespectful. Would we dig up and display the bodies of our Founding Fathers or any Americans for that matter? Probably not.
Nonetheless, these mummies will be on display for all to see at The Grand Egyptian Museum in 2021.
