"Jungle Cruise" Ride at Disney Getting An Update!

Some changes are coming to Disney World and Disneyland. Another ride is being updated after years of complaints about racist depictions. Like "Splash Mountain," the "Jungle Cruise" ride at both the Florida and California parks has been criticized for having racist themes. "Jungle Cruise" portrays native peoples as hostile headhunters. As park visitors make their way down the river they encounter animatronic elephants, hippos, tigers and other animals, along with cannibalistic natives.

All negative depictions of native people will be removed from the "Jungle Cruise" ride with the focus more on the "skipper" of the boat and the animals. There was a rumor that the ride would be changed to coincide with the release of the new version of "Jungle Cruise" starring The Rock that is due in theaters on July 24th, but word is the update will not feature any themes from that movie.
