Recently I re-watched all six seasons of "The Sopranos," and it's just so good. So I can't wait for the new Sopranos prequel movie to arrive! Thank goodness we don't have too much longer to wait because it'll be out in a about 2 and a half weeks.
The movie is titled "The Many Saints of Newark," and it's set back in the 60s. It follows the life of a young Tony Soprano growing up in a mob family, and the many rival families in the neighborhood. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1967 Newark riots.
Michael Gandolfini channels his father James as a young Tony Soprano. Jon Bernthal plays Tony's father Johnny Boy Soprano, while his mom Livia is portrayed by Vera Farmiga. And the younger versions of several of Tony's friends that we got to know on "The Sopranos" are part of this story as well. Billy Magnussen starring as Paulie "Walnuts" Gualtieri, John Magaro is Silvio Dante and Samson Moeakiola plays Salvatore 'Big Pussy' Bonpensiero. The film also stars Ray Liotta and leslie Odom Junior.
