After An 18 Month Covid Shutdown Broadway is Back!

New York City was extremely hard hit by the Covid pandemic, and Broadway shows have been shut down for eighteen months because of it. Finally, tonight, some of Broadway's biggest hit shows will open back up again!

Four popular musicals will welcome back audiences including “Hamilton,” “The Lion King”, “Wicked,” and “Chicago.” A big welcome to Mili Diaz, who will make her Broadway debut tonight as Nessarose aka the Wicked Witch of the East in “Wicked.”

Previews also begin tonight for “Lackawanna Blues” at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, which will open officially on September 28th.

If you're going to New York City to see a show, you should know that all 41 Broadway theaters will be requiring vaccinations for everyone, including those in the audience as well as those onstage and backstage. You'll also need to wear a mask in the theaters, with the exception of when you're eating or drinking. Those rules will be in effect at least through October 2021, and you can bet those regulations will be extended.
