Daniel Craig Grateful to Play Bond Even Though Sometimes It Was a "Slog."

Remember when Daniel Craig was named the newest James Bond and everyone went crazy and said how wrong he was for the part? The news that Craig was chosen to play 007 in the movie "Casino Royale" garnered a lot of negative press and blow-back from fans. There was even a "danielcraigisnotbond.com" website!! That was 15 years ago! Hard to believe so many people thought he was a bad choice since now he's considered many fans' favorite Bond.

At times even Daniel Craig didn't want the role. After starring as the British spy in four movies, he said he had had enough, claiming he would “rather slash my wrists” than play that character again.

Now that his time in the role really is almost over, he said “I’m very proud of what we have done. I am so lucky to have had this opportunity. What happens in the future, it just feels like it is going to take 15 years to unpack all of this, to figure out what just happened.” He also admitted that “sometimes it was a slog,” but that the time went by quickly. Of that time 15 years ago when he got the role, he said that it feels “like it was yesterday.”

Daniel Craig's last film as Bond, "No Time to Die," opens in the US this weekend!
