William Shatner to Become Oldest Person Ever to Fly Into Space!

After all these years, "Star Trek's" Captain Kirk is about to boldly go where no man...well, where lots of men and women have already gone before, however, he will be the oldest man to do it! Actor William Shatner will launch into space for the very first time!

The New Shepard NS-18 rocket will set off from Blue Origin's suborbital launch facility in West Texas on October 12th. Shatner will be part of the second crewed mission for this rocket, and he'll be joined by three other space travelers including a former NASA engineer, also the co-founder of a software company and an employee from Blue Origin.

They'll head up no more than 66 miles above the ground for about 10 minutes before returning to Earth, hopefully for a smooth landing.

Shatner said, "I’ve heard about space for a long time now. I’m taking the opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle.”
