Netflix Series "Squid Game" Eligible for Prime Time Emmy!

I've been hearing so many good things about the new Netflix show “Squid Game,” and on my profile it is a 99% match for me, so yesterday I binge-watched the first four episodes. I love it! If you're squeamish about violence and blood, you may want to stay away from this show, but it's addictive. In fact it's one of the streamers most watched shows! The original drama series is produced by Netflix Korea, and premiered on Sept. 17, 2021. Since then it's been the number one drama series on Netflix in all 83 countries it's streaming services reaches!

"Squid Game" has been described as a cross between "The Hunger Games" and another Netflix series "Black Mirror." In the story-line, a group of 456 people who are deeply in debt agree to play children's games in the hopes of winning a large sum of money. They quickly find out that those games are deadly. The Korean-language series is dubbed in English for American audiences, and now it could be up for some major awards!

Netflix could make history if the drama wins a Prime Time Emmy. It was confirmed by the Television Academy that the show is eligible for that award, even though the show is Korean. Because it was produced under the Netflix brand, an American company, and it's distributed here in the United States, it qualifies. If they choose, the show is also eligible to enter the International Emmys because it was made overseas, however it can't be in both so we'll see which one they choose to enter.
