Real Life Squid Games Happening Around the World...Minus the Killings

The mega hit Netflix series “Squid Game” debuted on the streamer on September 17th, and since then has become their most-watched series ever! I binged the 9 episodes in two days. It’s a great show! And now fans are lining up to play those kids games in real-life!

In the United Arab Emirates, The Korean Cultural Center is jumping on the popularity of the drama series made in South Korea. This past Tuesday, they hosted a Squid Game style event, and 30 people took part, playing four of the six children’s games the contestants played on the show. They played non-deadly versions of Red Light, Green Light and the Dalgona honeycomb candy challenge among other games. Even the guards were there with their face masks with the shapes on the front, and fake guns.

St. John’s Hotels in Gangwon-do Province in South Korea is planning their own one-day Squid Game event for Sunday October 24th. Contestants in that game will play four different games and compete for 5 million won in prize money. I know that sounds like a lot of cash, but its only about $4,200. Watch the video to learn to make your own Dalgona candy!
