The Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink Opened This Past Weekend!

This weekend a massive Norway spruce will make its way from Maryland to Rockefeller Center in New York City, and it will be erected in the back of the famous ice skating rink. That rink is now open for the season!

Folks have been skating on The Rink at Rockefeller Center between West 49th and 50th streets, since Christmas Day in 1936 when it first opened. Many famous faces have done a figure 8 or two on that iconic rink including Robert F. and Ethel Kennedy, Serena Williams, and Olympic gold medalist figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi.

The Rockefeller Center’s Ice Skating Rink opened for the holiday season this past weekend and it’ will remain open daily, rain or shine, from now through March.

Tickets start at $20 for adults and children over 5. Those 5 and under cost $8, however they say prices can increase depending on the day and time. At peak popular hours tickets can cost as much as $54. A season membership is also available starting at $400. Kinda pricey yes, but that gets you unlimited ice access.
