You’d think stopping a slow moving street sweeper would be easy for police to stop… but you’d be wrong.
Richmond, Indiana police started chasing a stolen street sweeper, but the slow speed, 10 to 25 mph, was good enough to swerve around stop strips and make other evasive maneuvers.
Police chased the stolen property for over an hour, (yup..they had this disaster of a slow speed chase drag out for well over 60 minutes ! ) in which time the suspect driving it wrecked plenty of stuff. He tried to run people over, he hit other vehicles, and he smashed into a garage, partially collapsing it. That still didn’t stop the street sweeper!
What finally did the thief in was running into a lake. We're not sure he didn't notice a lake...but he didn't.... A K-9 officer helped detain the guy before he could flee.
